According to research one million people die every year due to cancer out of which 85% are due to cigarette. Robert Proctor of Standford University America says that Cigarette is the most dangerous product of last century. In the last century, approximately 100 million people died due to cancer. According to Jordan Goodman, who writes a book "Tobacco in History", James Buchanan Duke of America invent cigarette.
In 1980 he started the business of tobacco at the age of 24. They start their item with the name of "Duke of Durham in Durham, North Carolina. After two year he start making a machine for cigarette with help of a young mechanic James Bonsik. The machine was good enough to make one hundred and twenty thousand cigarette a day.
Then he started marking by sponsoring horse races and other public activity. in 1889 he spend 0.8 million dollars on advertising his cigarettes. Then he start thinking to spread his business in UK. In 1902 he started a company with the name of British American Tobacco in sharing with Imperial Tobacco.
James died in 1925 and till 1932 cigarette was considered is useful for health. Even til 1902 it was in the Encyclopedia of Medicine.
In a latest research of Robert Proctor, which was published in "Tobacco Control" magazine, Robert claim that lot of people are responsible for introducing cigarette including companies, sellers, the designers and even the actors who is marketing tobacco. (Help from bbcurdu.com)
